female bomber

A suspected female suicide bomber has killed herself in a failed attempt on students of Federal College of Education, Kontagora in Niger State.

Details of the incident, which occurred this afternoon, are still sketchy, but a student of the college, who pleaded anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone that the female suicide bomber was instantly killed while another student sustained injury.

The Police spokesman in the state, Ibrahim Gambari, confirmed the incident but said they were yet to get full details of the incident.

“We shall get to you when we get full details”, he told NAN.

This incident is coming two days after over 40 students were killed in an attack launched by a suicide bomber on a school in Potiskum, Yobe state.

President Jonathan had a day after the Potiskum attack, formally declared his intention to seek a second term through the Presidential election next year. There has been comments suggesting that the attack was meant cast mud on the President’s flamboyant declaration which took place in Abuja.

Recent attacks on schools may be a renewal of Boko Haram’s initial rejection of western education. More than 200 days ago, about 230 girls were abducted from their school in Chibok, Borno State.

So far, the government and the security agencies have not failed to give assurances that in no time the insurgency ravaging the country will be brought to an end. But constantly, scope of acts of terror have not ceased to enlarge.
