Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III has raised an alarm that millions of voters may be disenfranchised if the Independent National Electoral Commission does not find a solution to the shortage of permanent voters cards ahead of the February 14 elections
This long queue of people that may not vote in February includes the Sultan himself and many other eminent citizens.
The Sultan also decried the dragging of religion and ethnicity into election campaigns over the past few weeks
He spoke when President Goodluck Jonathan paid him a visit at his palace in Sokoto in the course of the Presidential campaigns.
HOMELAND NEWS reports that INEC has commenced distribution of the PVC across the country after a poor excercise was concluded last year leaving many registered voters without the card that will enable them to participate in the election.
President Jonathan had ordered INEC to ensure that every registered voter is issued with the PVC before the election begins.
