The management of the University Jos has closed down the institution indefinitely following student’s demonstration which almost turned violent on Tuesday.
The students had on Monday staged a protest in front of the University Main gate along Bauchi Road over a purported increase in tuition and other school charges by the University authorities.
The students who were due to begin their second semester examination on Monday, insists that they will not go ahead with their examination if the school authorities fail to reverse plans to increase Tuition and other school charges.
HOMELAND NEWS correspondent in Jos said security agents on Tuesday shot sporadically and use tear gas to disperse the agitating students.
In a Statement by the Registrar of the University, Jilli Dandam, the university management appealed to all students, parents and guardians to disregard any rumour making the round about any planned increase in fees.
The registrar said, Students were expected to vacate the hostels on or before 2pm, on Tuesday
