From now, the use of appellations such as His Excellency and Executive in reference to the governor of Abia state, is no longer permitted. According to a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Godwin Adindu, he prefers to be known and addressed simply as Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The governor has also directed that public communications be taken away from the person of the governor or any other public functionary and focus on functions of government. Immediate removal of all congratulatory posters and election billboards has been ordered.
The governor’s reform also abolished the use of his photograph in signage, posters and billboards of ongoing projects in the state.
In reassuring the residents and citizens of the state of his mission to serve, Dr. Ikpeazu urged them to be part of the new can-do spirit in the state.
