There are strong indications that Nigeria’s President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan may hand over to the Military if the 28 March presidential election does not favour him.
Authoritative sources told Global Village Extra that the Presidency is perfecting plans to execute a “Plan B” should Maj-General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC floor the incumbent president after the voting process.
“The president is not likely to hand over to Buhari if he (Jonathan) loses to him for fear of being prosecuted alongside his corrupt ministers over the massive corruption of his administration.
“According to the plan, top shots like OBJ, IBB and other former Military rank anf file will be threatened seriously with the army.
“Some of them might even face house arrest if what I am hearing from some quarters here is anything to go by,” the Aso Villa insider who does not want his name mentioned told our correspondent.
As at Tuesday, a heavy Military presence was sighted patrolling the Bourdillon, Ikoyi residence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a national leader of the major opposition party.
Sources also informed that the Military, who claimed to be going to ‘war’ against Boko Haram for the next six weeks, have been perfecting strategies to take over power from Nigeria’s civilian ruler.
And the President’s emphasis that, “29 May handing over is sacrosanct” further fuels the speculations that have been rife following the huge support that Buhari has enjoyed in the past few months.
