Women of the South Eastern zone of the country led by the wives of the State Governors have pledged support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid.
 
Apart from Imo, other states in the region and Delta had the governor’s wives and several other women leaders make the pledge in Awka during a rally organized by an NGO, “For Jonathan” (4J)

 Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Mrs Patience Jonathan was the special guest at the event which was coordinated by businessman Arthur Eze.  She marveled at the level of mobilization and the hard work put in by Arthur Eze and his group which led to the wide attendance from states across the zone.
  
Wives of Ebonyi, Abia, Delta, Anambra States, and the wife of the deputy senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Iyom Josephine Anennih and other women in their respective speeches said they will work tirelessly to ensure that no vote is lost in next year’s election.
 
Prince Arthur Eze in his remark said that he will continue to be a pillar of support for the people of the south East, and will ensure he deploys his finances to work for the re-election of President Jonathan.

Mrs. Jonathan said that 4J shares the some similarities with her NGO, Women for Change and Development initiative, which has for years been empowering widows and indigent women.
 
Highlight of the rally was the presentation of support materials, ranging from hair dryers, grinders, bags of rice, bags of salt and several others to all the widows.
